The right culture, a solid strategy, good intelligence, and action – all are good, but they don’t always guarantee that change will occur. Follow through is important to ensure that change is implemented effectively, measured carefully, and constantly modified to optimize its impact. In order to implement change, consider the following:
- Are people willing to change? People in your company need to be open to new ideas that will lead to improvements. They need to welcome change particularly when the source of suggested change is customers.
- Are measures in place to evaluate the effectiveness of change? You need to know if the changes you implemented worked and had the desired effect. Consider calculating the return on investment to understand the impact of each change.
- Are changes sustained? You want the new change procedures to be made permanent and there are efforts in place to continue to improve on the changes to expand their impact.
