Welcome! And thanks for checking out Valuable Accounts. Valuable Accounts is a forum to discuss thoughts and ideas for generating more value from the accounts we serve. Please feel free to comment about new ideas or topics that you would like to hear more about.  Of course, also comment when you think I am out to lunch with my thoughts or ideas!    

To put some of my thoughts in context, let me tell you a little about myself. I am Executive Vice President, Strategic Accounts for Walker Information. Walker is a customer strategy consulting firm that focuses on helping companies achieve their business objectives by leveraging the perspectives of customers. I get involved in account management from a couple of different angles. First, I work with the Strategic Account Managers at Walker to serve our key accounts. And second, we at Walker work with companies to help them craft and refine their Strategic Account Management programs and make them as customer-focused as possible.

My background is a bit different than most in account management, I suppose. I started my career in accounting, working for Ernst & Young. I left E&Y after 12 years to operate in the CFO world, first for Walker, then for a publicly-traded company in Indianapolis that provides logistics services for the mobile phone industry. I returned to Walker a few years later to work in the area of Strategic Accounts. This background in finance is the basis for my interest in business results—you will likely see that interest in many of my entries.

Enough about me, let’s talk about Valuable Accounts. To make this blog as valuable as possible, it needs your interaction, your accounts. Check back often for posts, comment as frequently as you like, and always let me know of topics that are of interest…I will get the topic going for everyone to comment.
